I am sure a lot of you have noticed that the Greek recently put togeter The Best Damn Poll In The Land's Top 25 (http://www.sportsline.com/mcc/blogs/entry/9249838/9313372 ) and since I am one of the participants in the poll he invited to join, I thought that I should also post my poll here on my blog to reflect how I voted each week. Listed below is my preseason poll that I turned in to the Greek. Go ahead and take your potshots and I will do my best to defend my position.
-KING
Here is what I turned in to the Greek. I've added some comments in italics, too.
The King’s Way Too Early Preseason Top 25
1. tOSU - Loaded to the hilt. Don't forget that last year was a rebuilding year.
2. Oklahoma - I made this call one year too early last season.Win abowl game for a change too Stoops.
3. Georgia - As talented as any team in the country but their schedule will get them..probably at AU
4. USC - Lots of talent as usual but a little less experience this year.
5. Florida - Loaded but still a tad too young
6. Mizzou - They are for real and this year is do or die.
7. Clemson - Favorable schedule and good experience/talent too.
8. Wisconsin - A better team than last year. Maybe only one loss before the bowls.
9. BYU - Schedule and a hell of an offense gets them this spot
10. Auburn - This is a very good team and nobody will look forward to playing them.
11. LSU - Still very good but lost too much to win the NC
12. Penn St - Experienced team that will compete hard for JoePa in probably his swan song year.
13. West Virginia - Still a dangerous and talented team but adversity, new staff and offense, etc, may be too much to overcome completely. Don't forget what happened to UL last year
14. Kansas - They are for real too but a tougher schedule and some key players gone put them here. The fat man can coach like a mother
15. Texas Tech - Could potentially be a legitimate top10 team but you can't forget that they are still Texas Tech too. Watch out for that trip to College Station this year you damn tortilla tossers
16. Virginia Tech - 2nd in the ACC. Good talent but some key losses drop them back a few notches.
17. Oregon - Watch out if they get a solid performance this year by their new QB(s)
18. Illinois - The Zookster can coach. They are a team nobody in the Big 10 will look forward to playing
19. Tennessee - The orange suited fat man doesn't have enough talent and experience this year to go much higher I think.
20. Arizona St. - The resurrection in the desert continues, A tough azz schedule makes it rough on these cats though
21. Texas - Key hits on the O-line and it remains to be seen if they can replace Charles. Sure they are always loaded with talent but you have to be able to coach and develop that talent too.
22. Fresno St. - They could be a BCS bowl team if the schedule wasn't so damn hard. If BYU slips up though, watch out. This is a very dangerous mid major.
23. Florida St. - Decent talent as always. They may have slipped off the throne from the 80's and 90s, but they aren't going to let themselves just be forgotten either.
24. Notre Dame - Wake up the echos. Too much talent there to keep being crappy. Last chance for the other fat man too.
25. Pittsburg - The talent is there, it just depends on what Wanny does with it this time.
Just missed: Michigan, Miss. St., USF, Rutgers, Wake Forest, BC, Nebraska, Colorado, UCLA, Alabama, Cincinnati, Michigan St., South Carolina, Miami, and UCF.
Obviously this is pure speculation on my part but it is based on what I see coming back, schedules, etc. and it most certainly will change once we get a few games behind. However, just like any other highly speculative preseason poll, I have to start somewhere.
